Punta Fenaio lighthouse

Punta Fenaio lighthouse is a navigational beacon at the northern edge of Giglio Island, built with a white cylindrical tower topped by a black lantern room. The structure rises roughly 10 meters above sea level and commands views of the surrounding coast and neighboring islands.

This beacon was built in 1883 by the Italian Maritime Authority to guide ships through the waters of the Tuscan Archipelago. The construction was part of a broader effort to improve navigation safety across the region.

The name reflects its position at the northern tip, symbolizing the island's deep connection to the sea. Visitors come here to experience how the lighthouse served as a vital beacon for seafarers crossing these waters.

Visitors reach the beacon via a roughly one-kilometer hiking trail from Vaccarecce that takes about 30 minutes on foot. The path winds over mostly flat terrain with occasional inclines, so sturdy footwear is recommended.

From the clifftop on clear days, visitors can spot Montecristo Island, Elba, and the Etruscan coast stretching across the horizon. This sweeping view makes the site a special vantage point for taking in the entire maritime landscape of the region at once.
