Kameyama Park

Kameyama Park is an urban park on a hillside in Yamaguchi, spreading across several levels with terraced layouts. Walking paths wind through open green spaces and gardens that offer views over the city, with direct access to the Yamaguchi Prefectural Museum.

The park grounds hold the St. Francis Xavier Memorial Church, constructed in 1952 and rebuilt in 1991 following architectural changes. This church marks a significant point in the site's past.

The park serves as a venue for the Yamaguchi Star and Lantern Festival, where people from across the region gather to celebrate. The festivities shape how visitors experience the place, especially during the event season.

The park is accessible around the clock, with various entry points and pathways throughout the site. Since it sits on a slope, some routes are steeper than others, so wear comfortable walking shoes for exploring.

From the elevated position on clear days, you can see both Kyushu and Honshu islands stretching across the horizon. This geographical vantage point is an overlooked advantage that catches many visitors by surprise.
