Soukyu-ji, Buddhist temple in Seki, Japan

The temple complex includes traditional wooden structures, stone lanterns, and landscaped gardens that follow classical Japanese architectural principles.

Founded during the Nara period, Soukyu-ji began as a Tendai sect temple and later transformed into a center for Zen Buddhist practices.

The temple maintains regular meditation sessions and ceremonies where visitors can learn about Zen Buddhist traditions from resident monks.

Located at 35 Nishihiyoshi Town in Seki City, the temple welcomes visitors throughout the year and provides guided tours of its grounds.

The temple features a 49-meter staircase designed in the shape of a Buddhist cross, which visitors navigate in complete darkness holding a guide rope.
