Gifu Collection of Modern Arts

The Gifu Collection of Modern Arts is a museum in Seki featuring approximately 800 permanent works, including paintings, sculptures, and craft objects by Japanese and international artists. The collection brings together diverse art forms and styles in one location.

The building was constructed in 1992 on the site of the former Seki Garden Factory operated by Nabeya Bi-Tech Kaisha. This conversion marked the transformation of an industrial location into a contemporary art venue.

The museum displays works by regional Japanese artists alongside international pieces, presenting different artistic traditions side by side. Visitors can explore both local and global perspectives on contemporary art here.

The museum is accessible during regular operating hours and features different exhibition areas with varying layouts. Plan to spend a couple of hours to explore the collection at a comfortable pace.

The building incorporates a cascade and pool in its entrance design, connecting the structure with the surrounding natural environment. This feature creates a calming effect as visitors arrive at the museum.
