Hibiya Open-Air Concert Hall, Open-air concert hall in Hibiya Park, Tokyo, Japan
Hibiya Open-Air Concert Hall is a performance venue within Hibiya Park in Tokyo, with a main stage area, fixed seating for around two thousand six hundred people, standing areas, and wheelchair spaces. Alongside this main facility, there is also a smaller stage used for free musical events.
The facility opened in 1905 as the country's first public outdoor hall and was rebuilt after its destruction in 1923. Renovations followed in later decades, reshaping the hall into its current form.
This performance space has hosted weekend concerts throughout its existence and remains a place where Tokyoites gather to hear live music surrounded by greenery. Musicians perform here during warmer months, and the open setting allows sound to travel through the park's pathways.
The hall sits close to Kasumigaseki and Hibiya metro stations, making it easy to reach on foot. Music performances occur mainly on weekends and holidays due to weekday restrictions.
In 1969, the venue hosted the so-called 10-Yen Concert, considered the country's first large rock event, drawing many attendees. This show marked a turning point in the local music scene and gave the site lasting recognition among fans.
