Tokyo Court Complex Building, Joint government building in Kasumigaseki, Japan.
The Tokyo Court Complex Building is a courthouse located in Tokyo's government district with 19 above-ground floors and 3 basement levels. The 92-meter-tall concrete structure houses more than 150 courtrooms serving the High Court, District Court, and Summary Court operations.
Completed in 1984, the building was designed by the Supreme Court Administration Bureau to consolidate multiple judicial operations in a modern facility. It replaced the previous Supreme Court location and unified various court functions in one structure.
The complex serves as a gathering point where citizens come to address legal matters and seek justice through the court system. Its modernist design communicates the formality and gravity of the judicial process.
The building is accessible from Sakurada-mon Station and Kasumigaseki Station, with security screening required at entry. Visitors should allow time for security procedures and check opening hours before visiting.
The entrance hall features a chandelier preserved from the earlier courthouse building that once stood on this site. This retained piece connects the current facility to its judicial past.
