Diet Front Park, Public yard at National Diet Building, Nagatachō, Japan.
Diet Front Park is a public yard in the Nagatachō district of Tokyo, located directly in front of Japan's national parliament building. It features open lawns, trees, and paved walkways that anyone can walk through freely.
The park was laid out around 1900 as part of the urban modernization of the Japanese capital. It was designed to create a transition between the city fabric and the newly built parliament complex.
In spring, cherry blossoms draw people to walk along the paths near the parliament grounds, making it a popular spot for a quiet stroll. In autumn, the maple leaves turn red and bring a similar wave of visitors.
The nearest subway stations, Kokkai-gijidō-mae and Nagatachō, are within easy walking distance. The ground is flat, the paths are straightforward to follow, and there are benches along the way.
A section of the park was laid out so that no windows face toward the Prime Minister's residence, as a security measure. This detail is not visible from the paths but reveals how the space was shaped around the government complex.
