Togokusan Fruits Park, Botanical garden and urban park in Kamishidami, Japan
Togokusan Fruits Park is a botanical garden and urban park on a slope of Mount Togoku with multiple types of fruit trees and a greenhouse. The greenhouse contains tropical plants that visitors rarely see in the region otherwise.
The park opened in 1980 as a place to teach people about fruit and plants. Since then it has served as an important educational center for the community.
The Fruit Building displays how different fruits are grown and their role in the region. On certain days, visitors and locals gather here to share knowledge about fruit cultivation.
The park is reachable on foot from a nearby train station, which takes about half an hour. Alternatively, buses go close to the site, and only a short walk from the stop is needed to arrive.
The park houses a special collection of cherry trees with pink double-petaled blossoms that draws many visitors. These trees are spread throughout the grounds and create a memorable springtime experience.
