Shōgen-ji, Buddhist temple in Komaki, Japan
The temple consists of multiple structures featuring traditional Japanese architectural elements, with wooden beams and curved roofs surrounded by landscaped gardens.
Founded in 817 CE as a Tendai temple during Saicho's visit to Eastern Japan, the temple later transferred to the Rinzai School during the Kamakura period.
The temple functions as a center for Zen Buddhism practices, offering meditation sessions and religious ceremonies throughout the year for both practitioners and visitors.
Visitors can reach the temple by taking a bus from Okitsu Station or Shimizu Station, with the bus stop Shōgenji Mae located within walking distance.
The temple holds the official designation as one of the regional peace-protection temples, known as ankoku-ji, established by the Muromachi government.
