Hakusasonsō, Historic residence and art museum in Sakyo-ku, Japan
The Hakusasonso estate spans 10,000 square meters with traditional buildings, art galleries, and gardens featuring stone lanterns from the Heian period.
Japanese painter Hashimoto Kansetsu established this residence in 1916, designing the buildings and gardens that reflect both Muromachi and Heian architectural styles.
The museum displays Kansetsu's paintings alongside Greek pottery and Chinese artworks, representing the integration of Eastern and Western artistic influences.
The museum opens daily from 10:00 to 17:00, with adult admission at 1300 yen, student tickets at 500 yen, and free entry for high school students.
The garden includes three tea houses, including Keijakuan which replicates the design of Kodaiji Entokuin temple, surrounded by carefully positioned stone sculptures.
