Jin'ya-ji, Buddhist temple in Kimitsu, Japan

Jin'ya-ji temple sits on Mount Kano, featuring a copper-roofed main hall and traditional gates surrounded by maple trees and cherry blossoms.

Prince Shotoku established this temple in 598, making it one of the oldest Buddhist sanctuaries in the Kanto region of Japan.

The temple holds numerous historical artifacts, including a self-carved statue of Kobo Daishi and a mask created by medieval sculptor Unkei.

The temple complex contains parking for 50 vehicles and requires an entrance fee to access the treasure hall and garden areas.

In 1979, three Bengal tigers escaped from the temple grounds, leading to a month-long search operation that ended with their capture.
