Konrin-in

Konrin-in is a Buddhist temple in Yamatokoriyama featuring traditional architecture with a main hall containing mathematical tablets and religious objects. The temple displays both structural elements and items connected to local spiritual practices.

The temple was established in 1659 by Naoyoshi Fujibayashi, a tea ceremony master who served the domain's second lord. Its founding by a prominent official shaped the temple's early place in the community.

The temple serves as a center for Koshin faith practices in the region. Visitors can observe how the community maintains these spiritual traditions through regular worship and rituals.

The temple is about a 10-minute walk from Yamatokoizumi Station through the local neighborhood. Walking through the area helps you get a feel for the traditional surroundings.

The temple houses a statue of Shomen-kongo that was discovered in ashes after the domain lord Sadataka Katagiri burned household furniture. This unusual object has a remarkable story connected to its discovery.
