Konzō-ji

Konzō-ji is a Buddhist temple in Zentsuji with two separate precincts connected by landscaped grounds. The east precinct contains the Kondō Hall and the west precinct houses the Mieidō Hall.

The temple was founded in 774 and became a major religious center during Buddhism's development in Japan. Significant expansions occurred throughout the following centuries.

The temple houses National Treasures including a gilt bronze finial and a decorated Preface to the Lotus Sutra. These sacred objects reflect the spiritual importance this place has held for people over centuries.

Marked pathways lead visitors through the temple grounds with informational signs in both English and Japanese. These routes are clearly maintained, making it easy to navigate between the different areas.

A five-storied pagoda built in 1902 stands as the tallest structure within the compound. This tower is designated as an Important Cultural Property and defines the temple's silhouette.
