北浦和總站大樓, Skyscraper in Urawa district, Saitama, Japan
The Kitaurawa Terminal Building is a tower with 13 above-ground floors and 2 basement levels located on the east side of Kitaurawa Station. The structure brings together apartments, retail spaces, parking, and a bus terminal.
The project began with a 1970 petition by the Kitaurawa East District Redevelopment Committee to modernize the aging wooden structures in the area. Its completion brought the first integrated structure combining residential, retail, and transport functions.
The building houses a department store and various shops where commuters and residents gather daily. It functions as a social hub where people combine their shopping and travel routines.
The parking facility offers both surface and mechanical spaces with set hours and hourly rates. Visitors should note the multiple entrances and levels within the building for easier navigation.
The building contains roughly 79 residential units stacked directly above an active bus terminal, creating an uncommon blend of private and public spaces. This arrangement allows residents to begin their daily commutes from home.
