Gyōda City Museum

The Gyoda City Museum occupies the former grounds of Oshi Castle, displaying artifacts that document the progression of the region through different periods.

Opening its doors in February 1988, the museum stands on the site of a fifteenth-century fortress that played a strategic role during the Muromachi period.

The museum exhibits traditional jika-tabi footwear manufacturing processes, reflecting the industrial legacy of Gyoda as a major producer of split-toe shoes.

Visitors can reach the museum via a 23-minute city bus ride from Gyoda Station or through a 12-minute walk from Gyodashi Station.

The institution maintains collections related to the ancient burial grounds of Sakitama Kofun Park, which contain tombs dating from the fifth to seventh centuries.
