Sakata City Museum of Art, Art museum in Sakata, Japan
The museum stands on a hill with views of Mount Chokai, the Mogami River, and central Sakata through its large glass windows.
Architect Yoshiro Ikehara designed this museum, which received the Public Buildings Award after its inauguration on October 3, 1997.
The permanent collection displays Japanese Western-style paintings by local artists Chozo Saito and Shigeru Morita, along with sculptures by Tsuyoshi Takahashi.
Visitors can access the museum daily from 9:00 to 17:00, except on Mondays unless it falls on a public holiday.
The museum spans 30,000 square meters of grounds and 3,000 square meters of exhibition space, incorporating natural light through its architectural design.
