Minaka Odawara, Commercial complex at Odawara Station, Japan
Minaka Odawara is a 14-story commercial complex connected directly to Odawara Station, housing 57 retail shops, a hotel, a convention hall, medical facilities, and a library. The building integrates seamlessly with the station, making it easy to move between transit and shops.
The complex opened in December 2020 and was designed with references to the Edo period, when Odawara was a major post station along the Tokaido trade route. This historical connection shapes the building's appearance and character.
The ground floors recreate a traditional Japanese shopping street where local shops sell regional crafts and food specialties from the Odawara area. You can experience the flavors and products that locals have valued for generations.
The complex connects directly to Odawara Station, so you need no additional transport to reach it. Most areas are accessible by elevator or ramps, making it easy to navigate all floors.
The 14th-floor observatory has a soaking footbath fed by hot spring water from Hakone, offering views of Odawara Castle, Sagami Bay, and Mount Fuji. Few modern buildings offer such an experience of relaxing your feet while taking in distant views.
