LUMINE the YOSHIMOTO, Comedy theatre in Shinjuku, Japan
LUMINE the YOSHIMOTO is a comedy theatre on the seventh floor of the Lumine 2 building near Shinjuku Station, hosting regular performances of stand-up and other stage shows. The auditorium offers 458 seats with a total capacity of 488 people, allowing larger audiences to experience the stage activity.
The theatre opened in April 2001 when entertainment company Yoshimoto Kogyo decided to expand eastward and establish permanent venues in this region. The location emerged during a period of growing demand for Japanese comedy outside its traditional centers in the west of the country.
Performers here present Manzai and Conte every day, two traditional forms of Japanese comedy that rely on quick exchanges, precise timing and physical humor. The shows reflect a style of entertainment where two performers often work together, using dialogue and gesture to connect with the audience and provoke laughter.
Tickets can be bought in advance through the official website or directly at the box office on site. Arriving early is advisable, as shows draw many attendees and this gives time to find your way around the building.
This stage is the largest permanent venue operated by Yoshimoto in eastern Japan and presents several shows each day. Visitors planning a trip can choose between different programs and performers depending on the time they arrive.
