Honsen-ji, Buddhist temple in Minami-Shinagawa, Japan.

The temple grounds contain a copper statue of Jizo Bodhisattva at the entrance and a 25-meter tall ginkgo tree with a trunk circumference of 5.35 meters.

Founded during the Daito period between 806 and 810, Honsen-ji underwent reconstruction in 1457 under Ota Dokan, who renamed it Kinkazan Dai-en-ji.

The temple belongs to the Daigo school of Shingon Buddhism and represents the thirty-first station of the Edo Thirty-three Kannon Pilgrimage circuit.

Visitors can reach the temple within four minutes by foot from Aomono-yokocho Station, with the grounds open daily for prayer and meditation.

The temple bell, displayed at the 1867 Paris World Exhibition, disappeared for 60 years before its discovery in Geneva and return to Japan in 1930.
