Ube Tokiwa Museum

The Ube Tokiwa Museum is a sculpture gallery and botanical garden in Tokiwa Park, where contemporary artworks are displayed outdoors among walking paths and planted areas. The collection integrates artistic objects with carefully designed garden sections that showcase different plant species throughout the year.

The museum was established in 2007 as a combination of existing outdoor sculptures with botanical collections at this location. This merger grew into an independent institution that regularly develops new artistic and horticultural projects.

The museum hosts a regular sculpture biennale that brings together artists from Japan and abroad to display their works within the gardens.

The site is best explored on foot, as the artworks and plants are spread along paths. Admission requires a ticket, and the best visit is during seasons when plants are flowering.

The gardens contain more than 3,500 cherry trees and 80,000 iris flowers that bloom in succession, creating different visual experiences throughout spring and summer.
