Natsume Sōseki's Former Uchitsuboi Residence, Literary residence in Chūō-ku, Japan.

The wooden single-story Natsume Soseki House features traditional Japanese architecture with a total floor area of 269 square meters in Kumamoto Prefecture.

In 1896, renowned author Natsume Soseki moved to this residence as an English teacher at the Fifth High School, residing there for one year and eight months.

The residence contains exhibits of Soseki's manuscript replicas and photographs from his teaching period at the Fifth High School, illustrating Japanese literature development.

Located near Tsuboi Bridge bus stop, the residence offers free admission to visitors aged 65 and above, while adults pay 200 yen and students 100 yen.

This house marks the fifth residence of Soseki in Kumamoto and witnessed the birth of his first daughter, Fudeko, in May 1899.
