Tsukiji Uogashi

Tsukiji Uogashi is a retail building housing approximately 60 shops in a covered commercial space. The shops sell fresh seafood, produce, vegetables, and prepared foods from individual stalls.

The facility opened in 2019 after the wholesale market relocated to Toyosu in 2018. This transition allowed the neighborhood to maintain its culinary traditions through a new retail model.

Vendors demonstrate their knowledge of seafood and ingredients through conversations and advice to customers at their stalls. This direct interaction between sellers and buyers shapes the daily rhythm of the place.

Visitors should arrive early in the morning to find the best selection, as many stalls open with the sunrise. The covered space is easy to navigate, and there are eating areas scattered throughout.

The rooftop contains dining spaces where visitors can eat fresh seafood while viewing the surrounding Tsukiji streets below. This combination of shopping and views creates an unexpected advantage when visiting the market.
