The Kapucijnenklooster is a monastery complex in Velp with three wings arranged around a central courtyard. The chapel features a vaulted rear section and an expanded nave for worship.
The monastery was established in 1645 and shows building elements from different periods. A stone coat of arms from 1663 and renovations in 1718 mark key phases of its development.
The chapel holds wooden sculptures and stone reliefs from the 16th to 18th centuries that show Dutch Catholic practice. These works reflect the spiritual life that unfolded within these walls.
The complex includes twelve single rooms and eight bedrooms with shared facilities, plus spaces for meetings. The layout makes it easy to navigate the different parts of the building.
A small chapel built in 1670 in the monastery garden served as a place for priests who cared for plague victims. This room preserves the memory of compassion during difficult times.
