Mechelińskie Łąki Nature Reserve, Nature reserve in Pomerania, Poland
The Mechelińskie Łąki reserve extends across 113.9 hectares of flat, low-lying terrain intersected by drainage canals near Puck Bay.
The Polish government established this protected area in 2000 to maintain the ecological balance of coastal wetlands in the Kashubian region.
Local environmental organizations conduct scientific research and monitoring programs to document the behavior of water birds within the reserve.
Visitors must stay on designated trails and obtain permission from the Regional Director of Environmental Protection for activities like cycling or horseback riding.
The reserve contains specialized halophytic plant communities that have adapted to survive in the salty conditions created by bay water infiltration.
