House of Scientists

The House of Scientists is a palace on Dvortsovaya Embankment with rooms in different architectural styles throughout its buildings. Inside, you'll find Renaissance, Rococo, Gothic, and Byzantine elements mixed together across the connected structures.

The palace was founded in 1920 after a famous writer proposed turning a former royal residence into a center for scholars. This transformation marked the start of its new purpose as a place for scientific work.

During the city's siege in the 1940s, the palace stayed open and set up a medical area for people in need. This fact shows how the building continued serving its mission even during the hardest times.
