Volkonsky House, Historical mansion in Arbat District, Russia
The Volkonsky House stands on the corner of Vozdvizhenka Street, featuring a distinctive tower with a dome at its angular section.
Built in the 18th century, the mansion belonged to Prince Volkonsky, who inspired Leo Tolstoy's character Prince Bolkonsky in War and Peace.
The property served as a meeting place for Moscow nobility during the early 1800s, where literature and arts were regularly discussed.
The building underwent reconstruction in 2013, expanding from two to four floors while maintaining its position as a protected cultural monument.
The mansion's architectural design combines elements of Russian classical style with a G-shaped layout and decorative stone masonry on its facades.
