Дом Разумовского — Шереметева
Дом Разумовского — Шереметева, Federal cultural heritage site in Arbat District, Russia
The Razumovsky-Sheremetev House is a classical mansion with a distinctive corner rotunda and refined architectural details on its Vozdvizhenka Street facade. The design incorporates classical friezes, cornices, and ornamental bindings that run across the floor levels, creating a harmonious composition.
Count Alexey Razumovsky commissioned the mansion in the 1790s, and it passed to Nikolai Sheremetev in 1799 who oversaw its interior refinement. The change in ownership marked a shift in how the building served Moscow society.
The mansion served as a gathering place for artists and musicians under Dmitry Sheremetev's stewardship, drawing creative figures to its rooms. It became known as a social hub where cultural life unfolded during the 1800s.
The mansion sits in a central location within the district and is accessible by several bus routes and the nearby metro station. The surrounding area has clear landmarks that help with navigation and orientation.
Two architectural replicas of this mansion were built at different locations throughout Moscow, demonstrating the appeal of its design to builders of the era. These copies reflect how the original influenced architectural tastes in the city.
