Vyborg-Bank on Theatre Square

The Vyborg-Bank is a financial building at Theatre Square featuring granite and brick walls decorated with Renaissance Revival elements. The symmetrical facade displays intricate stone ornaments distributed across its entire surface.

Gustaf Nyström and Uno Ullberg designed this building between 1898 and 1904 for banking operations in Vyborg. Major modifications were carried out in 1910 and 1911 to modernize the structure.

The building shows how Finnish and Russian architectural styles of that era came together and influenced each other. You can see this in the facade elements that blend both traditions.

The building is located at the intersection of Pionerskaya and Krepostnaya Streets and remains easy to spot. You can view and photograph it best from Theatre Square.

The stonework on this building is remarkably detailed and reflects the economic prosperity Vyborg enjoyed in the early 1900s. Many visitors overlook these finely crafted ornaments, which demonstrate the craftsmanship of that era.
