Saints Peter and Paul Lutheran Church

Saints Peter and Paul Lutheran Church is a classical brick basilica with symmetrical proportions and hefty stone facades, where columns frame the entrance to the worship space. The building rises above the surrounding terrain with a bright interior featuring wooden pews and neoclassical design elements.

Architect Yury Felten designed this classical temple in 1793 for Vyborg's Baltic German community. The structure survived wars and underwent several restorations before receiving federal cultural monument status.

The cathedral reflects the presence of Baltic German residents who shaped Vyborg for centuries, with visible Lutheran traditions woven into the interior and building design.

Visiting during daytime is best when light streams through tall windows, illuminating the neoclassical details throughout the interior. The cathedral sits within the Linnoitus fortress grounds, making it easy to explore nearby historical structures during the same trip.
