Round Tower, Medieval artillery tower in Vyborg, Russia
The Round Tower features thick stone walls reaching 4 meters on the eastern side and 3 meters on the western side, with a 21-meter diameter.
Built between 1547 and 1550 by fortification engineer Hans Bergen, the tower served as a defensive structure during the modernization of Castle Olafsborg fortifications.
The Round Tower witnessed the signing of the Vyborg Treaty between representatives of King Charles IX and Tsar Vasily Shuysky in 1609.
The Round Tower houses a restaurant on the ground floor, offering visitors both dining services and access to the historical monument.
The structure maintained its egg-shaped design and connected to the Cattle Gate through a gallery formed by two stone walls with an internal passage.
