Monument to Yakov Baklanov, Memorial monument in Yermaka Square, Novocherkassk, Russia.
The bronze monument features a granite boulder draped with a Cossack burka, topped by a bronze papakha and adorned with inscriptions on its pedestal.
The monument was initially placed at Smolny Convent cemetery in Saint Petersburg in 1875, then relocated to Novocherkassk along with General Baklanov's remains in 1911.
The memorial honors Lieutenant General Yakov Baklanov, a military commander who led Cossack regiments during the Caucasian wars of the nineteenth century.
Located south of Novocherkassk Cathedral, visitors can observe the monument's detailed craftsmanship, including the granite spheres and military symbols.
The monument's pedestal displays the last sentence of the Nicene Creed and includes a general's shashka protruding from beneath the sculptured burka.
