Aspuddsparken, Park in Schweden
Aspuddsparken is a large park in the Aspudden area of Stockholm that combines playgrounds, green spaces, and a farm animal section. The park features pathways for walking, a playground with swings and slides, a shallow pond for splashing, a sports field, a basketball court, and a park building with a cafe and playroom for young children.
The area received its name in 1924, and the animal section of the park was started in 1949 to introduce children to farm animals. The entire park was developed from the 1950s onward and has remained an important gathering place for families in Stockholm.
The park carries the name of the Aspudden neighborhood and represents a local tradition of bringing animals and nature into the city. Visitors see families gathering here to spend time together with animals and learn about caring for them.
The park building contains a self-service cafe, clean restrooms, and a wheelchair-accessible toilet so all visitors can find necessary amenities. Visitors should check opening hours before their visit since times differ on weekdays and weekends, and the playroom closes about half an hour before the park.
The park company is called Djur och Kul, which means Animals and Fun and reflects the playful philosophy of the place. The park attracts about 130,000 visitors each year, making it one of the most visited parks in Stockholm's outer areas.
