Hellgrenska palatset

Hellgrenska palatset stands at Götgatan 68 in Södermalm and features a limestone staircase and ornate ceiling moldings across multiple floors. The ground floor houses the established restaurant Den gröne Jägaren, making it a gathering place for visitors.

The building was constructed between 1865 and 1866 by architect Johan Fredrik Åbom and served industrialist Wilhelm Hellgren as both office and residence. This dual function reflected the prosperity and status of its original owner.

The building has housed the Catholic Diocese of Stockholm offices since 1983, giving the place lasting institutional importance for the community.

The building is located at Götgatan 68 in Södermalm, easily accessible with clear street access. The restaurant on the ground floor makes it a natural stop while exploring the neighborhood.

The original 1865 private residence contained eleven rooms plus a bathroom and toilet, which was exceptionally modern for that era. Such comfort was available only to wealthy families at that time.
