Korniansky ropný prameň

Korniansky oil spring is a natural petroleum reservoir in the Čadca District located in Slovakia. A wooden structure with a flag marks the site where crude oil seeps from the ground and collects in a small area.

The spring was used locally during the 19th century before receiving protected status in 1984. Historically, residents applied the oil for heating and lighting purposes throughout the surrounding region.

The oil seeping from this spring contains minimal sulfur and possesses high quality for a natural source. Methane gas that rises from the surface occasionally ignites on its own, creating a surprising natural phenomenon.
