The mosque displays a rectangular layout with one minaret, incorporating Neo-Gothic architectural elements combined with traditional Ottoman design patterns and decorative elements.
Sultan Abdul Hamid II commissioned the construction of this mosque between 1884 and 1886, making it a central part of the Yıldız Palace complex.
The interior spaces feature traditional Islamic artistic elements, including detailed tile work, elegant calligraphy, and geometric patterns throughout the prayer halls.
The mosque underwent a complete restoration in 2017 with an investment of 27 million Turkish liras, resulting in renewed structures and facilities.
On July 21, 1905, the mosque became the target of a carriage bomb attack, which caused 26 deaths and left 58 people with injuries.
