Cathedral Basilica of the Assumption, Gothic Revival cathedral in Covington, United States.
The Cathedral Basilica of the Assumption features 67-foot-tall stained glass windows, stone carvings, gargoyles, and marble floors throughout its 194-foot structure.
Construction began in 1895 under Bishop Camillus Paul Maes to replace an 1834 frame church, with architect Leon Coquard modeling it after Notre Dame Cathedral.
The cathedral holds 350 authenticated religious artifacts, including bones from Saint Paul and Saint Arnold of Arnoldsweiler in its dedicated relics chapel.
Visitors can explore the cathedral Monday through Friday from 9 AM to 3 PM, with guided tours available for groups of ten or more people.
Twenty-four Bedford limestone statues were installed along the cathedral entrance in 2021, representing various parishes within the Diocese of Covington.
