Chenocetah Mountain

Chenocetah Mountain is a summit in Cornelia with hiking trails leading to an observation tower at the peak. The landscape around the mountain offers expansive views across the surrounding region.

An observation tower was built on the peak in 1937 by the Works Progress Administration. This structure continues to be used by rangers for forest monitoring today.

The mountain's name comes from Cherokee language and refers to the expansive views from its peak. Visitors can still sense the historical importance of this location in the surrounding landscape today.

The trails to the peak are open to visitors, with the observation tower accessible mainly during special events. Good footwear and appropriate clothing are important for safely navigating the paths.

The mountain is one of thirty-nine peaks in Habersham County, yet its location offers unusual perspectives on the surroundings. The historic fire tower was deliberately placed here to ensure maximum visibility across the landscape.
