The Nacoochee Valley Historic District spreads across 2,500 acres of land between Mount Yonah and Sal Mountain in northern Georgia.
Native Americans constructed the Nacoochee Mound, measuring 17 feet in height and 70 feet in diameter, at the western edge of the valley before European settlement.
The Richardson-Lumsden house and Williams-Dyer Residence exemplify architectural styles from Italian Villa to Gothic Revival within the protected area.
The district received National Register of Historic Places designation in 1980, ensuring preservation of structures and archaeological sites for research purposes.
The Nichols-Hunnicutt-Hardman House stands as the central architectural element in this valley, featuring design elements from multiple nineteenth-century styles.
