Gettysburg Rostrum, Civil War speaker platform in Gettysburg National Cemetery, USA
The Gettysburg Rostrum stands as a brick speaker's platform with columns and a roof within the grounds of the National Cemetery.
The structure, built in 1879 by P. J. and J. J. Tawney, received multiple modifications including an extension in 1904 and restoration in 2013.
Six United States presidents, including Theodore Roosevelt, Calvin Coolidge, and Franklin D. Roosevelt, delivered speeches from this platform to honor military veterans.
The rostrum remains accessible during National Cemetery operating hours and serves as a gathering point for memorial ceremonies throughout the year.
The platform was incorrectly identified in 1908 as the location where President Lincoln delivered the Gettysburg Address, leading to decades of historical confusion.
