The building was constructed in 1922 and initially served as headquarters for Stroh's Brewery Company, featuring a rooftop beer garden. This original purpose shaped the site's early role in Detroit's commercial landscape.
The structure displays Chicago School design with large window patterns that flood interiors with light and create an open appearance across the facade. This steel-based construction method allows for such generous window placement, shaping how the building looks from the street.
The building is easily accessible at the intersection of Adams Avenue West and Woodward Avenue with parking available in the attached annex. Retail spaces on the ground level are straightforward to enter, while upper-floor offices serve tenants and businesses.
The exterior walls feature three layers of brick masonry creating a sturdy and durable outer shell. An enclosed walkway connects the main tower to the nine-story annex between the third and tenth floors.
