The Columbus Museum of Art holds European and American art collections within a classical building featuring colored gallery walls and spacious exhibition areas.
Founded in 1878 as the Columbus Gallery of Fine Arts, the institution opened its current building in 1931, gaining National Historic Place status in 1992.
The collections include early Cubist paintings by Picasso and Juan Gris, along with works by Degas, Matisse, Edward Hopper, and Norman Rockwell.
The Center for Creativity provides 18,000 square feet of space with galleries, meeting areas, and workshops for hands-on activities.
The museum received the National Medal from the Institute of Library and Museum Services in 2013, the highest recognition for museums in the country.
