Lake Frierson State Park

Lake Frierson State Park is a woodland reserve on Crowley's Ridge covering roughly 114 acres with a 335-acre lake at its center. The water is ringed by trees and supports various fish populations, with designated areas for fishing, boating, and paddling alongside a visitor center.

The park was established in the 1970s by the Arkansas Soil Conservation Service and named after Charles Frierson, an attorney from Jonesboro who played a role in acquiring the land. His efforts made this public space possible for the region.

The park serves as a gathering place for the surrounding community, particularly when springtime brings fishing tournaments and celebrations that draw families outdoors. These occasions show how locals value the space as a place for shared experiences.

The park provides camping spots, a boat launch, and a fishing pier, with rentals available for fishing boats, kayaks, and pedal boats. Arriving early is helpful if you want a good parking or camping location, especially on weekends and during warmer months.

The northern slopes contain tree species typically found in Appalachian forests, including cucumber trees and northern red oaks. These species grow in this southern location due to the specific soil conditions and microclimate of the area.
