Northeastern Wisconsin Zoo, Wildlife park in Green Bay, United States
Northeastern Wisconsin Zoo is an outdoor animal park located northwest of Green Bay, Wisconsin, where around 200 animals live in open-air enclosures. A network of walking paths connects the different animal areas and educational spaces across the grounds.
The land was originally pine forest before it was cleared for farming during the 1800s. After that, it became a reforestation project and was eventually turned into a public animal park.
The zoo is often called "NEW Zoo," a nickname drawn from the initials of Northeastern Wisconsin. It operates without local tax funding and relies entirely on donations and community partnerships to keep running.
The zoo is open throughout the year and has picnic areas available for visitors. The walking paths are easy to follow, so it is simple to explore the grounds at your own pace.
In 2014, an Adventure Park with zip lines and aerial challenge courses was added to the grounds. This means visitors can combine animal watching with activities that take place high above the ground.
