Bellin Building, Chicago School office building in Green Bay, US.
The Bellin Building is a Chicago School office structure with nine stories and a steel-frame construction. Large windows stretch across the facade, punctuating each level and giving the building an open, ordered appearance.
This structure was built in 1915 and expanded with two additional floors in 1924 to serve growing business needs. The expansion reflects how the downtown developed during the economic growth of the 1920s.
The building sits at a busy intersection where locals and visitors naturally pass through during their day. It reflects how architecture shapes the character of a downtown area and influences how people experience the city.
The building is located near public transit in downtown Green Bay and easy to reach on foot. The exterior can be best viewed from the street level, and the surrounding blocks offer good walking routes to see it in context.
A manually operated elevator from 1947 still functions inside the building, a rare surviving example of this technology. It remains maintained and offers a glimpse into how people moved between floors in mid-century buildings.
