Patuxent River State Park

Patuxent River State Park is a nature reserve along the upper Patuxent River in Howard and Montgomery Counties, featuring dense forests, wetlands, and varied hiking trails. The park spreads across a large area with terrain that ranges from flat bottomlands to steeper hillsides.

Development of the park started in 1963 when the Maryland General Assembly approved its creation, with land acquisitions happening between 1964 and 1968. The protected area was established to safeguard the natural environment around the river.
