Safe Harbor Dam

Safe Harbor Dam is a hydroelectric facility spanning the lower Susquehanna River with multiple turbines that convert flowing water into electricity. The concrete structure holds back water to form a reservoir, creating the lake visible today behind the dam.

Construction began in 1930 during the Great Depression, with electricity production starting in 1931. The project provided jobs and infrastructure development during a difficult economic period.
