The Colemanville Covered Bridge extends 170 feet across Pequea Creek, featuring a wooden double Burr arch truss design with red paint and white trim.
Built in 1856 by James C. Carpenter for $2,244, the bridge underwent major reconstruction in 1992 when it was raised six feet and moved west to prevent flood damage.
The bridge represents Pennsylvania's transportation heritage, joining numerous covered bridges that demonstrate 19th-century engineering methods throughout Lancaster County.
Located on Fox Hollow Road south of Pennsylvania Route 324, the bridge maintains an 11-ton load limit and accommodates regular vehicle traffic.
Steel hanger rods reinforce the double Burr arch trusses, making this bridge one of the longest single-span covered bridges still operating in Lancaster County.
