The three-story French Victorian mansion features ornate architectural elements, including towering bay windows, elaborate ironwork, and detailed cornices throughout the structure.
Built in 1871 by carriage maker Amos Woodruff, the residence changed ownership to the Fontaine family in 1883 who maintained the property until 1929.
The mansion presents period-specific furniture, decorative arts, and textiles that demonstrate the social practices of Memphis elite families during the Victorian era.
The mansion welcomes visitors for guided tours Wednesday through Sunday, with special arrangements available for wedding ceremonies and professional photography sessions.
Each room in the mansion contains authentic nineteenth-century artifacts, including original clothing items belonging to the Woodruff and Fontaine families.
