FedExForum, Indoor sports arena in downtown Memphis, United States.
FedExForum is a multi-purpose arena in downtown Memphis, Tennessee, spanning several floors with a rectangular footprint. The interior divides into lower seating rows close to the playing floor, middle tiers with suites, and upper galleries that offer a wraparound view of the playing surface.
Plans for a new sports venue in Memphis began in the late 1990s when the city sought a replacement for the older Pyramid Arena. Construction started in 2002 and lasted until completion in late summer 2004, giving Memphis a modern home for professional sports teams.
The building carries the name of the logistics company that has held naming rights since the opening. On game nights, spectators often gather hours before tip-off in the entrance area and surrounding streets, where fan groups show their support.
The arena sits centrally downtown and can be reached on foot from several directions, with signage guiding the way from the nearest intersection. For larger events, arriving early is advisable as queues at the entrances can grow and security checks take time.
Murals and installations in the concourses pick up themes from music history and local Memphis heritage. These elements remain visible to visitors as they move toward their seats or refreshment stands.
