Langley Fork Historic District, Historic district in Fairfax County, United States
Langley Fork Historic District is a cluster of 12 buildings located where Georgetown Pike and Old Chain Bridge Road meet in Virginia. The structures span 37 acres and include residences, commercial buildings, and religious meeting places from different periods.
The area developed in the early 1800s as a crossroads community with a tavern and toll collection point. The Langley Ordinary served as a military headquarters during the Civil War and reflected the district's strategic location.
The Langley Friends Meeting House from 1853 reflects the Quaker community that established itself in this area. The chapel and nearby Gunnell's Chapel show how different religious groups shaped the place over time.
The district sits at a road intersection that is easy to access, and several buildings are visible from outside. Keep in mind that some structures are privately owned and can only be viewed from the street.
The Mackall House was originally built as a church in 1858 but was later converted into a residence and now operates as a school. This transformation shows how the community repurposed its buildings to meet changing needs.
